Positions paying below the Median + 20% threshold fall into the Low-Wage stream. These are subject to stricter government oversight.
- The 10%/20% Cap: Employers are generally limited in the percentage of low-wage foreign workers they can employ at a single location.
- Refusal to Process: IRCC may refuse to process Low-Wage LMIAs in regions where unemployment is 6% or higher.
